The Trustees

Dominic Reilly - Chairman

Dominic is a chartered surveyor and enjoyed a long career working in commercial property in London from which I retired in 2016.   He still practice as a chartered surveyor both as a  consultant and as a non-executive director with a privately owned Cambridge property company.

In his leisure time he enjoys walking and all forms of sport both recreational and from my armchair, and still regularly play golf, tennis and snooker.

Dominic lives in a small hamlet a few miles to the south-east of Royston. He has lived in the same house for 30 years although the house is only now occupied by just himself and my wife with their two Labradors, although their three children are frequent visitors at weekends.

Phil Rowe - Treasurer

Phil obtained a degree from Leicester University in Maths.   He worked for many years as a computer programmer/systems engineer.     

He has been treasurer of Royston & District Round Table, trustee of the Drama Group, CADS, trustee of Strong Man Royal Arch chapter 45 Benevolent Fund, treasurer of a Masonic chapter, and Masonic Lodge.   

Phil took early retirement in 2017 and volunteered with the RDCT as a driver in 2017.

He is married with 3 children and 5 grandsons.

Helen Melville-Smith -Company Secretary

Helen retired in December 2014 having worked for over 40 years in the legal sector as legal accountant and administrator.   She was on the committee and eventually chair of her professional body the Institute of Legal Finance & Management.

Helen joined the RDCT as an office volunteer in 2016 and then was asked if she would take over the role of Company Secretary after the retirement of the scheme manager in 2020.

She is married, has 3 stepchildren and 6 grandchildren.

Keith Parker
Keith left Buntingford secondary Modern school and joined his family’s market garden business up until 1976 when his father passed away and the UK had just joined the common market, the combination of which finished the business.

He then pursued a career in commercial sales mainly in the welding equipment supply sector and later in the tail lift industry working his way up the ladder to national sales manager for major players in both industries.

After being made redundant he briefly volunteered for RDCT and then set up a training business in the wheelchair transport sector with help from RDCT which has been very successful for many years.

Keith had lived in Hertfordshire for more than 60 years, but he now resides in Cambridgeshire with his wife of 5 years Jackie.  He has two grown up daughters who both work in the NHS

Ronald Comben

Ron retired from BT 20 years ago after 39 years in engineering, first as an engineer then training engineers and subsequently training computer users.

After retirement he continued in training as a National Trust Education Volunteer at Wimpole Hall, until they stopped their education section.

Ron joined RDCT in 2014 as a volunteer driver, but also used his IT knowledge to sort out a few office problems, then was asked to become a director.

He now edits the RDCT Newsletter and keeps village newsletters up to date with RDCT activities.

He is married and has 8 family members over three generations.

Brian Johnson 

Brian worked in the construction industry for almost 50 years on a variety of projects from Power Stations to Hospitals and major refurbishments including work for government departments.

In his younger days Brian was involved in running a scout group.

He is married to Pat, with 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

Pat Johnson

Pat obtained a chemistry degree from Brunel University and worked for 29 years in the science department of a private school as the Chemistry technician.

She was also responsible for purchasing all the stationery requirements for the entire school and then charging each individual department for whatever they had ordered. This included all the requirements for the admin staff as well as the academic staff. 

Pat has been married to Brian for over of 50 years.  She is the mother of 2 children and grandmother of 6.

Peter Heath - Human Resources

Peter retired in 2015 and had worked on the operational side of the Road Passenger Transport industry across South Wales. He joined RDCT in 2016 as a volunteer driver and was asked to become a Trustee. He is the lead Trustee of the HR sub-committee.  Peter is widowed, he has twin daughters and 2 grandchildren.

Kaylee Bonja

Kaylee retired in 2019, and was recruited as a volunteer driver in April 2020. She has over 30 years experience in the charity sector, managing projects to assist children, young people and families. In the past she has been a Scout Leader, managed a Mother & Toddler Group, set up and managed a Saturday morning club for 9 to 13 year olds, and served on the Management Committee of Coombes Community Centre. She is currently an NHS Volunteer. Hobbies include gardening, travel, learning languages, yoga, and racquet sports for fun. She is married, has three adult children, and seven grandchildren.

Pete Worsey

Pete retired in June 2022 after a long career in the food and drink industry.

He started as a volunteer driver when he retired and then became Fundraising Director and Trustee in mid-2023.

Pete has lived in Royston for 30 years is married to Laura and has three grown up children.  

Kathryn Farrow

Before retiring Kathryn was a qualified children’s nurse working on the ward at the hospital in Harlow.

Now she is retired, she has more time for cooking, baking, and sewing (particularly cross stitch). She also enjoy walking locally as well as going further afield and is a member of the Royston Leisure Centre participating in classes and swimming.

 

Kathryn started driving for RDCT during the first lockdown in 2020 and has really enjoyed meeting and chatting to a variety of people (as well as taking them to where they want to go!)

She lives in Great Chishill with her husband and two sons.
