We'll take you where you need to go
What is the Community Transport Scheme?
Royston & District Community Transport offers door-to-door transport for people living in
Royston and the surrounding villages of North & East Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire
who are unable to use conventional public transport and do not have the use of a car.
Volunteer drivers provide transport using their own cars and the scheme also operates two
wheelchair-accessible minibuses and a four/six seat Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV).
Who can use the service?
The scheme is aimed at groups or individuals who are unable to use conventional public
transport for reasons of age, frailty, impaired mobility or the lack of public transport. Our minibuses
and MPV are suitable for wheelchair users who cannot transfer to a car.
On the move?
We are currently based at Royston Hospital which, although closed to inpatients,
is still open for outpatient clinics and community facilities.
Please note that RDCT will be moving in the near future to new offices,
but our telephone number and e-mail address will remain the same. Watch this space!
Where can I go?
The service can be used for journeys to:
- Hospitals for appointments, admissions or visits
- Health care appointments
- Day Centres
- Specialist Needs clubs
- Social purposes
Our co-ordinator Pru Burton matches volunteer drivers to client’s journeys
